Are you thinking of throwing a party on the patio for your close friends and want to create the right atmosphere for maximum effect? If you are, how do you make your patio more attractive looking after sunset apart from providing a lot of good food, setting a good ambiance for the party which is also very important? A good suggestion is to put up patio string lights. Not only will they add to the ambiance,it will also make it safer for your guests after the sun goes down.
There are basically 3 types of string lights that you can hang on your patio.
Lantern Patio String Lights
More expensive but brighter so if you have a lot of kids at your party and you do not want them to injure themselves as they play outdoors, these will be a good choice. Not to mention if those attending your party are older and slightly more “happy” after a few drinks. They’ll need to be able to see their way around too.
Bulb Patio String Lights
These small little light bulbs are a favorite. They are very similar to what is typically used on a Christmas tree. Apart from hanging these up on your patio, you can also wrap them around the trees so that they look just like little fireflies. Alternatively, you can also place them on bushes and shrubs so that your garden looks as though there are lots of fireflies flying around! They are really very eye-catching and just contribute to the party atmosphere.
They are really good for setting the ambiance to your party because they are not very bright like the lanterns but neither are they so dim that you cannot see your way. They also come in various colors such as red, green, blue, purple and orange, which is why they are commonly used when decorating with patio string lights. Besides, they are very affordable too.
If you are concerned that the younger guests may fall and injure themselves when they are playing, you may want to just hang up more of these string lights.
Rope Patio String Lights
These are the ones which you normally see hung at bars or restaurants. Ropes are heavy-duty plastic wrapped around string lights. These lights, if LED rope lights, will cost more than your bulb string lights but not more than the lantern string lights.
Once you have decided on your choice of lights, you will have to think about how you are going to install them. Do you intend to hang them up on your own? If that is the case, you will have to consider how complicated the wiring might be and plan out your design carefully so as to get the look that you have in mind. It is advisable that you get a friend’s help and also carry out all the necessary research before embarking on the mission; you do not want to hang up all the patio string lights only to realize that the lights are too far from the power source. That is not a good thing.
So plan ahead and take a few measurements. Look at where you want to hang the lights and make sure it hugs the wall and does not create a tripping hazard. You will also want to make sure they are approved for outdoor use, definitely.
